Security level

Decide which SSL security level is right for you based on your requirements. Security levels ensue from the validation and the area of validity.

Check/validation

Depending of the type of SSL certificate, a variety of information is checked and validated by the certificate authority. Our SSL certificates check whether the holder named in the application has access to the domain named by the holder.

Period of validity

The period of validity determines how long you can use this certificate for your domain. Unless cancelled, the certificate is automatically extended and you will receive an invoice from Hoststar for another year.

Valid for

StandardSSL lets you issue certificates for domains and subdomains. With PremiumSSL, the certificate is valid for both the selected domain and for all of its subdomains. You decide which security certificate is right for you.

Encryption

SSL communication uses up to 256-bit encryption technology. This is the same standard used for online banking. The connection between customer (via a browser) and the server (e.g. your online shop) is therefore very secure. The validated data is visible to the customer and strengthens trust in your business.

Key length

Longer keys mean a higher number of combinations, and thus more time needed to try them all out. Our SSL certificates use a 2048-bit key length, today’s industry standard.

Areas of application

We recommend using FreeSSL for basic encryption purposes. Using this certificate, all domains and their subdomains managed in your hosting package can be accessed via a secure connection. FreeSSL uses certificates from Let's Encrypt.

We recommend using StandardSSL for enhanced encryption requirements. Are you looking to run an web shop? Or do you want people who are interested to access your website over a secure channel? Then a StandardSSL certificate is exactly what you need!

We recommend using PremiumSSL for higher encryption requirements with multiple subdomains. The PremiumSSL certificate is the right choice if, for example, you want to set up an online shop with a single subdomain and an area for confidential information with a different subdomain.

We recommend customised solutions for customers whose requirements are not covered by our certificates. These include, for example, certificates with Extended Validation or certificates for multiple domains (multi-domain). All you need from us is a dedicated IP address, which you can order from My Panel. You can then obtain the certificate from your provider of choice. Insurance protection

Our StandardSSL and PremiumSSL certificates have a warranty. In the very unlikely event that a security breach occurs on your site and this result in losses for one of your visitors / customers, you will be refunded with up to $ 10,000 by the Certification Authority. FreeSSL has no warranty.

Browser compatibility

Our paid SSL certificates boast a browser recognition rate of 99.3% and are thus excellently suited to websites that require a professional SSL-certificate solution.

Installation and activation of your registered SSL certificates are included in our offer. There are no extra charges for this service.
