Set up email forwarding

Support > Mail > Email configuration

You can set up email forwarding to direct all incoming emails to another email address(es) (internal and external).

If you enter only internal (same hosting package) recipients, these will be appended to the respective internal email addresses as «alias addresses».

For example, a business could have all emails that are sent to info@yourcompany.ch forwarded to the boss@headquarters.ch. Or for personal use, all emails sent to john.does@home.ch could also be sent to jane.doe@home.ch and john.doe@hiscompany.ch.

If you want to forward emails to a provider such as Gmail, we do not recommend setting up forwarding in My Panel. Instead you should configure your account with this provider to access an external email account via POP3/IMAP (if this is supported). This ensures that the forwarded emails do not get filtered out by a spam filter and delayed or perhaps not delivered at all.

Notice: If set up for permanent forwarding, all e-mails received will show your e-mail address as the sender and not the e-mail address of the original sender.

To set up email forwarding, follow these steps:

1. Log in

Log into My Panel (my.hoststar.ch).
(Log into My Panel)

2. Navigate

Click on «Mail» and then «Email addresses».

3. Email and table view

You can choose between two views under «Email addresses»:

  • Email view (account view) → Here you will see a list of the email accounts (email address, mailbox and email aliases) and then a section underneath for the email forwarders.
  • Table view (mailbox view) → Here you will see a list of mailboxes and the links between email addresses and mailboxes in the section below.

Add email forwarder in the email view

In the «Email view» follow these steps to add an email forwarder:

1. Add forwarding entry

Under «Email forwarding», click «Add email forwarding entry».

2. Enter the email address

A pop-up window appears. Now enter the email address (local section) with the associated domain to set up a forwarder. (The email address from which all incoming messages will be forwarded.)

3. Add internal recipients

If you want to forward emails to an «internal» (same hosting package) email address (recipient), select the desired email address from the drop-down menu and then click «Add».

If you only want to add «external» email addresses (recipients), go straight to step «5. Add external recipients».

4. Add internal recipients

The selected email address will be added under «Current recipients» and includes the note «(Alias)». Repeat these steps until you have entered all of the desired «internal» email addresses (recipients).

5. Add external recipients

If you want to forward emails to an «external» email address (recipient), enter the desired email address in the «Email address» field and then click «Add».

6. Add external recipients

The email address you have entered will be added under «Current recipients» and includes the note «(Forwarding)». Repeat these steps until you have entered all of the desired «external» email addresses (recipients).

Once you have entered all of the recipients, click «Save».

7. Forwarding setup complete

The new forwarding entry now appears under «Email forwarding».

You can now «manage your email forwarding».

Add email forwarding in the table view

In the «Table view» follow these steps to add an email forwarder:

1. Add email link

Create an email forwarder in the table view by adding an email link.

Under «Email links», click «Add email link».

2. Enter the email address

A pop-up window appears. Now enter the email address (local section) with the associated domain to set up a forwarder. (The email address from which all incoming messages will be forwarded.)

3. Add internal mailboxes

If you want to forward emails to an «internal» (same hosting package) mailbox (recipient), select the desired mailbox from the drop-down menu and then click «Add».

If you only want to add «external» email addresses (recipients), go straight to step «5. Add external recipients».

4. Internal mailbox added

The selected mailbox is added under «Current recipients». Repeat these steps until you have entered all of the desired «internal» mailboxes (recipients).

5. Add external recipients

If you want to forward emails to an «external» email address (recipient), enter the desired email address in the «Email address» field and then click «Add».

6. Add external recipients

The email address you have entered is added under «Current recipients». Repeat these steps until you have entered all of the desired «external» email addresses (recipients).

Once you have entered all of the recipients, click «Save».
