Order, Renew or Cancellation of an SSL Certificate
3. SSL Certificates Overview
You will be automatically redirected to the SSL Certificates overview page.
Note that with our FreeSSL you will automatically receive a free SSL Certificate issued by Let's Encrypt for each domain and subdomain. Let's Encrypt's FreeSSL Certificates provide you with basic protection for secure data transfer to and from your website. If you have higher requirements for an SSL certificate, we recommend our cost-obligatory SSL certificates, which offer insurance protection among other things.
If you need a paid SSL certificate, the first step is to select the hosting subscription you want.
4. Order SSL Certificate
To order one of our two paid SSL certificates for your hosting or your own IP address, click on the «Order» button in the «Order SSL Certificate/IP Address» section.
Select the SSL certificate you want or need or your own IP address by clicking on the corresponding offer and then on the «Request» button.
Select the domain for which the SSL certificate is to be issued, enter the subdomain (or «www») and click the «Next» button.
Enter the required address and contact information, accept our terms and conditions and privacy policy and click the «Order» button to order the SSL certificate.
You will shortly receive a confirmation e-mail with further information. In the My Panel, you will automatically be redirected to the overview pages of the «SSL Cerificates». The certificate you have just ordered is displayed with the message «Pending» (for payment pending) and the duration.
5. Edit SSL Certificate
After payment, the SSL Certificate is displayed with the message «Active» (green), but even if the message «Pending» (orange) is still displayed, some adjustments are already possible. To do this, click on the «arrow symbol» of the corresponding SSL certificate.
The detailed view of the certificate will be opened immediately. Here you will find information about the «SSL subscription», the «validation», «encryption», «duration» and the «price» per year.
To display the invoice, click on the «arrow symbol» in the grey «invoice» bar. The invoice view opens.
Under invoice you can display or download your invoice as a PDF document by clicking on the «Download symbol».
To edit the SSL certificate settings, click on the «Edit» button in the detail view.
You will automatically be directed to the «Domain» – «Settings» area. Here you have the possibility to make the «SSL settings».
Click on the «arrow symbol» next to the corresponding domain.
The detailed view of the «Domain overview» with the buttons «Subdomains» and «Edit DNS» opens. Click here on the «Subdomains» button.
The subdomains of this domain are displayed here. In our case with and without «www» and subdomain.hoststar.com. These are listed here as inactive (SSL).
Click on the «pen symbol» at the desired subdomain to activate the SSL certificate.
In the popup that now opens, select the box for «Activate SSL» in the «SSL configuration» area at the bottom and then select «Automatic redirection to HTTPS» in the selection. To save this information, click on the «Save» button.

After securing, the SSL certificate is immediately activated on your site. This is also shown in the status under Subdomains.
6. Renew SSL Certificate
The free FreeSSL certificate does not expire and you do not need to renew it.
A paid SSL Certificate (StandardSSL or PremiumSSL) will be renewed as soon as we receive the certificate fees from you. Before the SSL Certificate expires, you will receive an invoice from us via email for the renewal of the SSL Certificate.
Please note that the associated domain will no longer work if the SSL Certificate is no longer active. If you decide not to renew the SSL Certificate, cancel it at the end of the Certificate Term (see next section) so that the necessary server settings can be made and your domain remains available without interruption.
7. Cancel SSL Certificate
To cancel a paid SSL Certificate (StandardSSL or PremiumSSL), click on the menu item «Hosting» and then on «SSL Certificate».
Select the hosting subscription for which you wish to cancel an SSL Certificate and click the «Arrow» icon on the SSL Certificate you wish to cancel.
The detail view opens. Now click on the «Cancel» button.
A warning will appear in the popup. You will be asked whether you really want to delete your SSL certificate.
If this is the case, confirm by clicking on the «Delete» button.
The request to «Delete» or «Cancel» your SSL certificate will be valid immediately. The certificate remains active until the «end of subscription» and is then automatically cancelled and deleted.
